Queen Máxima congratulates Eosta on entrepreneurial excellence

Press release, Waddinxveen, January 12th 2016 - 2016 started well for Eosta: the international distributor of organic fruits and vegetables received two nominations for major Dutch entrepreneurship awards, the Entrepreneurship Award Heart of Holland (on January 11th) and the Horticultural Entrepreneurship Award (on January 6th). In the latter ceremony, Queen Máxima congratulated Eosta founder Volkert Engelsman and expressed her appreciation for organic food.

The jury of the Entrepreneurship Award Heart of Holland nominated Eosta for 25 years of change leadership in the international food trade. According to jury president Nicole Stigter, "Eosta has become a laboratory of change for the food sector". One week earlier Queen Máxima was present at the horticultural award ceremony, complimenting Volkert Engelsman for combining innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship to make the food sector future proof.

Deep conviction

Eosta CEO Volkert Engelsman, who together with a study friend founded the company in 1990, said he felt honoured with the nominations and the royal compliments: "We always believed in “where ecology meets economy”. It is a great privilege for all of us to receive this recognition for our efforts to make this world a better place, to make the true cost of food transparent to consumers and to help growers capitalize on their efforts to contribute to people and planet."

25 years of being first to market

Since its founding year 1990, Eosta has often been in the news for being first to market with innovations in food production, sustainability and transparency. Just a few examples: Eosta was the first company to have a certified climate neutral product range (2008) and from 2004 onwards developed its Nature & More transparency system which is still unique in it’s kind. More recently, Eosta took the issue of soil to the market in its Save Our Soils campaign which received support from over 200 NGO’s and VIP’s like the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Julia Roberts and many others.

Nature & More is the "trace & tell" trademark of Eosta, European market leader in fresh organic fruits and vegetables, with a specialization in overseas fruits and Dutch greenhouse crops. More information can be found at www.natureandmore.com and www.eosta.com.
