Organic overseas lemons now available

New crop lemons are available again! The first deliveries from South Africa have arrived. Lemons from Argentina, Chile and the Dominican Republic will also follow in the coming weeks.

Why overseas lemons?

The overseas lemons season got off to a somewhat slow start this year, but is now in full swing. Many retailers and health food shops are now switching to overseas lemons, because of their high juice content, beautiful yellow colour and fine skin.

Landings with obstacles

Landings from several countries are experiencing obstacles. In South Africa, a huge storm is causing ports to be closed and some ships to be temporarily unable to sail.

Phytosanitary restrictions from the EU, mean that many producers from the Eastern Cape and Argentina send oranges and lemons to countries such as the UK, Canada and the US, rather than to Europe.

Moreover, many supplying countries are struggling with the effects of recent drought or, on the contrary, abundant rainfall.

Reliable supply

Eosta has been working for many years with a fixed group of growers in different countries to guarantee a constant supply. These growers receive pre- and post-harvest guidance, allowing us to make timely changes in allocation to different customers and outlets.

Consistent sizing

The size range of lemons this year can be called average without too many extremely large or small sizes, but Eosta can always meet specific requests for certain sizes.
