The myth of frost and Brussels sprouts debunked

It is often said, "Brussels sprouts only taste good after the frost has passed over them." But that is actually a myth! In fact, Brussels sprouts taste great all year round. Although the temperature might affect the taste experience, frost does not change the taste of the sprout itself. 

Moreover, the bitter taste, which some people know Brussels sprouts by, is already largely a thing of the past. Thanks to a discovery in the 1990s by a scientist from Wageningen, the gene responsible for that bitter taste has been targeted. Nowadays, varieties are available with a much milder taste, so everyone - even children - can enjoy them. 

And did you know that Brussels sprouts are also a real vitamin C boost? Just eight Brussels sprouts contain enough vitamin C for the whole day! 

So... no more excuses not to put this healthy and delicious vegetable on the menu!
